The following are general rules and guidelines that must be adhered to while at Wildwood Ranch Camp.
General Guidelines and Information
- Dress standards outlined in For The Strength of Youth should be followed. Footwear should be comfortable and sturdy enough to protect the feet from rough ground, insects, and snakes.
- YW and leaders are strongly encouraged to arrive on time and stay for the entire duration. The Stake Camp Directors and staff should know who is in camp at all times.
- Leaders are responsible to be familiar with and ensure that participants adhere to procedures and guidelines.
- Vehicles: To preserve a healthy, safe and peaceful environment, vehicles should be driven as little as possible. When you must drive, please observe the camp 10 MPH speed limit and stay on roads.
- Parking: Park In designated areas. No parking in fire lanes or near buildings. 20 minutes unloading near cabins, kitchens or other areas of camp.
- Don’t climb on trees, walls or fences, cut or break plants or trees. Don't attach signs or banners to buildings or vegetation.
- Please discourage pranks as even seemingly “harmless” practical jokes can cause injuries, make a mess and may result in unanticipated damage.
- Please do not move rocks or logs positioned along roads and parking areas.
- Watch out for poison oak, sumac and rattlesnakes. When a rattlesnake is seen, keep a safe distance and advise camp hosts of the location.
Facility Guidelines and Information
- Food and drink (except water bottles) are not allowed inside the cabins.
- Beds, mattresses and furniture should not be moved or rearranged. Please do not allow standing or jumping on beds or mattresses.
- Sleep in specified areas, one person per bed, within building occupancy.
- “Youth may not stay in the tent of an adult leader unless the leader is her parent or Guardian. If Young Women leaders and young women share other overnight facilities, such as a cabin, there must be at least two adult women in the facility” (Church Handbook of Instruction, p. 108, Sec. 13.6.12).
- Please conserve water by limiting shower time. No water fights allowed.
- Only put toilet paper in the toilets, no feminine sanitary items (even those labeled “flushable”) and no paper towels. This will keep the toilets from clogging and overflowing.
- Please conserve energy. Close outside doors and windows and turn off lights, including those in the restrooms, before leaving buildings.
- No writing, painting, or carving on trees, rocks, plants or structures including cabin walls, floors, ceilings, cabins, and bunk beds. Cost for vandalism, including graffiti, damaged or lost equipment, will be assessed and invoiced to the responsible unit.
- Everyone will be assigned cleaning assignments while at Camp.
Safety & Security Guidelines and Information
- Dehydration is the top health issue at Camp Wildwood Ranch. Everyone should carry water and drink often.
- The safety of the young women is the responsibility of the unit leaders.
- Riding outside of motor vehicles on running boards, hanging out windows or riding in the back of pickup trucks or on trailers is not permitted.
- Skateboards, roller blades, ATVs and recreational vehicles of any type are not permitted. Only Camp Wildwood Ranch hosts may operate ATVs.
- Please dress for safety and modesty. You should wear closed-toed shoes for foot protection.
- Please use a buddy system at Camp. Flashlights are recommended for walking at night.
- Be aware of the location of the fire extinguishers inside or outside each building.
- Make sure that belongings do not block doors or paths to outside doors in cabins.
- Do not approach or feed wild animals. Stay on designed trails for safety and to prevent erosion.
- If an unknown or suspicious person is noticed in or near Camp, do not approach them. Immediately advise leaders and camp hosts.
Electronics and Phones:
- Our goal is for each girl to grow closer to our Savior and His love. We really want the girls to un-plug and enjoy the whole camp experience, build friendships, and feel the spirit. To eliminate distractions, we invite the young women to take a break from their phones during camp and leave them at home. Any phones brought to camp will need to be checked in at night by 10:00 PM with the YW President or earlier at her discretion.
Activity Guidelines
- Swimming pool (maximum capacity 110): No food or drink is allowed in the pool area. Mud, dirt, body paint and face paints must be completely removed before a swimmer enters the pool area.
